Is that really a can over the gas tank opening?

“This is a classic, one-of-a-kind jeep with a 4 cylinder engine and manual tranny. They don’t make them like this anymore…this is for a collector who appreciates restoration of old vintage cars. Call and ask for details from Martin (903) 394-1825. I deal in cash only…no cashier’s checks….cash only with a written contract stating “as is”….what you see is what you are getting. This Jeep does have doors….I took them off to prevent them from being stolen while on the lot. The doors come with the jeep and I will install them for whoever buys from me. Thanks!”

Looks like someone reversed the front springs and did a spring-over-axle customization.

It’s always easier to take apart a project than it is to put it together.

“There is a complete jeep in there somewhere. Was taken a part to restore. as you can see the only restoration that happed was the taken apart. Would really like to use my trailer again some day it does not go with it. no title will part out.”

UPDATE: Price dropped to $7500

I’ve spent some time in Arnold. It’s a pretty area. The jeep looks nice, too. It’s got a body lift and a grille & windshield from a M-38. This lacks a tailgate, which makes me wonder if the body is a DJ body (note the lack of a side fuel inlet).

“This is the probably the cleanest 1946 CJ2A you will see. It is painted in Pearl Orange with only a few minor chips that you really have to look for. This Willys has a Buick 225 Odd Fire which runs clean and installed as a rebuild last year.

The transmission is a SM465 with an Advanced Adapters kit between the motor and the Dana 18 Transfer case. The rear axle is a Dana 44 (upgraded from the Dana 41) with 5:38 / 1 gearing, while the front axle is a Dana 27 with matching gear ratios. The hubs are Warn Premium hubs and there is a Warn All Range overdrive also installed.

The Tires are 30″ Super Swampers that are brand new, and they are considerably taller than a traditional 30″ tires. Rims are Black Steel.

This Jeep also has the 10.5″ Clutch and upgraded 9″ brakes. There is a tow bar (not shown) that is included. I am even including the custom axe which is bolted to the roll bar and matches the paint. Fire Extinguishers and two Jerry cans also included.

I had a custom top made for the Jeep that extends all of the way to the back of the custom full roll cage.

There are several more improvements done to this Jeep. Everything is interior is clean, with nice gauges and a locking console. The seats are complete with seat belts.

I’m hoping to trade this Jeep for a CJ7, Nice Jeepster, or Bronco since my family has outgrown this Jeep. I’m not in a hurry to sell, so I’m not looking for anything that leaks a ton of oil, will leave you stranded, or needs too much work. I will sell outright for $8,000.00 but hoping to trade. ”

<– Day 20 –Thurs. May 23rd: And Then it Started Raining at the Worst Time|Trip Overview | Day 22 & 23 – –>

The new Great Willys Picnic Banner unfurled!

We started out the morning in Reading, PA. Our first objective was to meet Seth in Kempton. I felt bad about not being around for the Picnic, so meeting up with Seth was the next best thing.

On Friday we drove from Reading, Pennsylvania, to Sea Cliff, New York.

Seth’s place is hidden among some of the endless Pennsylvania hills. It’s east to see how much fun having a jeep would be for cruising all the quiet backgrounds in the area.

Another quiet Pennsylvania road.

This is one of many old barns in excellent condition set against a quaint backdrop.

By the time we arrived, Sethand his wife Heather were waiting for us at their house atop a windy hill. It’s a great vintage looking home that was built only ten years ago. Their son Levi wanted to join us, but had to go to school instead. I signed a poster and told him I’d try to get to the Picnic next year.

Seth volunteered to get his jeeps out of the shed (despite some drizzle) so we could photograph them. We didn’t have to push either of them! He’s got some additional jeeps in back that serve as parts vehicles. Seth also got a few neat signs on the walls.

Ann and I enjoyed their company very much and look forward to more time next year! Thanks for the coffee cake, too! Here are a few pics:

Marc spotted this crazy jeep.

“You are looking at a 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. The jeep has been totally customized we bought this from an estate who had this jeep done about 25 years ago. The rear of the jeep has been customized into a rear trunk storage area. The jeep runs and drives good with no problems. We believe that the engine is a chevy 283 V8, the transmission is the original 3 speed standard. the wipers, turn signals, and lights all work. The body is in really nice shape with no rust or holes the paint is really nice. there is a small paint blemish on the right front fender. The jeep comes with a soft top and doors there are also some extra covers that come with it that I believe are used to keep elements out when the car is parked with the top off. The top is in good shape. The under carriage is decent no holes in floor however the frame has been repaired in front on both sides near the shock see pics. The interior is in really nice shape with a custom fit carpet the seats are nice with custom wool stitched into the seat. This is a very unique jeep that someone put a lot of time and money into, this jeep is in very good shape for the year.”

Henry performing ‘toppage’ on a Jeepster in a downpour . . .

Today we plan on visit Bill and Henry at Lime Street Carriage in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

On Thursday we drove from Ronks, Pennsylvania, to Reading, Pennsylvania.

Ann and I awoke to a rainy morning in Ronks, PA. I’m not certain Ronks is a town, but it’s definitely a street. I do know for certain there’s a Waffle House off of Ronks street because we ate a midnight dinner there last night, because I wanted some grits: scrambled eggs, bacon and grits to be exact. Yeah, I know their butter is really hydrogenated oil coupled with other ingredients requiring a chemistry masters to decipher; I enjoyed my grits just the same.

Our goal today was Bill Reiss’ Lime Street Carriage in downtown Lancaster. Ronks is only a short drive away, so it didn’t take long for us to get there. When we arrived at Bill’s, he showed us around his current showroom of jeeps (and other vehicles) for sale. He explained that he’s in the middle of a renovation. His building was formerly a Studebaker dealership and other businesses. He laughed about the seven layers of carpet and three false ceilings he’s torn out of one area of the building. On the plus side, he was able toopen up a great deal of space. Even though there’s plenty of work left, it’s easy to see how great the space will be when he’s done.

Here are Bill and I checking out a few of the jeeps in his shop. There are several 2As and a CJ-5 lined up there.

Here are twins Norm (on the left) and Norma. Norma is named Norma, because she’s prettier.

Bill has this vintage truck for sale.

UPDATE: **SOLD** WAs $5000.

Chad asked me to post this for him.

“This is a 1943 Ford Jeep project car. I purchased it with the idea of completing it and flipping it for a profit. However, my model A rat rod has taken precedence and I have to reluctantly sell it in order to complete my A. The engine and brakes are rebuilt or restored with zero time on them since the rebuild. All body parts and interior are new. The chassis needs some repair where a previous owner had welded some things to the front and rear of it.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.

It’s got some dents, but it appears solid.

“Willys Jeep 1950, This is a great jeep with some TLC it would look great, all running gears work and purrs like a kitten. New soft top and seats are not ripped. No rust area that I could see.
some body dings but for a Jeep that is 63 years old it is in great shape, this is a flat fender jeep and well worth the price.

If you have questions please ask or better pics ask for what you want to see.”

UPDATE II: A seventhDeliver-Allis located in Morris, Illinois,at the True North shop(see on Google).

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1800. Since this was sold I’ve gathered additional informationontheDeliver-All. The video below shows the jeep engine and what may be a T-90. A custom(?)transferase was adapted to the back of the transmission to provide front wheel drive.

Here’s an ad that’s currently on eBay as of 07/22/16:

Photo from Pinterest of 1946 Marmon-Harrington Deliver-All van:

A good example of the logo:

eWillys | Your source for Jeep and Willys deals, mods and more (50)

This was the original ad from 2013:

“1947 Marmon Herrington DelivR All step/delivery van. Only 6 [Ed note: now 7 as of 2019] known to exist. This truck has sat for 25 years but the engine still runs. check out youtube video. look up 1947 Marmon deliver All. The truck is front wheel drive with independant rear suspension. It is powered by a 4 cyl willys engine and a 3 speed manual trans axle. There is some rust issues but not what you would expect for a midwest vehicle that was stored outside. Somebody converted it to a popcorn/ Cheese curd vending vehicle some time ago. No Title but have previous registration cards so that one can get a replacement title.

I bought this truck to make a hotrod out of it and put a late model driveline in it. When I found out how rare it is I thought I would alow the purists out there a chance at owning and restoring it. If not I will proceed with my Hot Rod Plans. Speak now or forever hold your peace. ”

<– Day 18 – Tues. May 21st: Food and Jeep Rides|Trip Overview | Day 20 –Thurs. May 23rd: And Then it Started Raining at the Worst Time –>

On Wednesday we spent the day touring Hershey.

It’s not clear to me why the passenger sits so low in the Crosley.

We started out our morning in Hershey, Pennsylvania, by driving to the Antique Automobile Club of America’s museum (aka: AACA). It was Brian who first suggested we visit it. The museum is actually two museums, the AACA’s collection uses the upper two floors and the Museum of Bus Transportation is on the bottom floor.

The outside of the AACA Museum / Museum of Bus Transportation.

The Kissmobile was gone when we left the museum, so I was glad we stopped for a picture before we went inside.

The contrast between the two museums was interesting. The AACA’s exhibits are highly crafted. The volume of vehicles they show isn’t large, but each car is is placed within a context. Even the colors seemed coordinated with the backgrounds. Here are some pics of the AACA.

Matt alerted me to a man named “Metcalf” from Pirate 4×4 who is “documenting his 2000 mile round trip in his flatty. 1000 miles up, 4 days of wheeling, 1000 miles home”. Anyone willing to travel 1000 miles through Utah, Idaho, Montana and Colorado at a top speed of 53mph is a brave man indeed! Note the picture below. That’s the jeep outside Moab. I wish I’d thought of that!
